What do we need to register a dog?

DOG BYLAW CHANGE EFFECTIVE AUGUST 24, 2022 - You must present a valid Rabies Certificate, veterinarian's proof of spay or neuter (if applicable) and:

  • $10.00 cash or check (spayed or neutered) or $15.00 (intact)              
  • January 1st to December 31st            Fee listed above
  • After February 28th                             Fee listed above plus a $25.00 late fee

FEES ARE WAIVED FOR OWNERS OF SERVICE DOGS AND OWNERS 70 YEARS AND OVER. UP TO DATE RABIES IS STILL REQUIRED WITH REGISTRATION.

ALL DOG LICENSES RUN FROM JANUARY 1ST OF THE CURRENT YEAR AND EXPIRE ON DECEMBER 31ST OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR. THE GRACE PERIOD FOR LATE FEES IS WAIVED UNTIL THE LAST DAY IN FEBRUARY BUT TECHNICALLY YOUR DOG IS UNLICENSED AFTER DECEMBER 31ST.

You can license by mail. Please enclose a check payable to the Town of Georgetown a current rabies certificate & proof of spay or neuter (which will be returned to you with the tag) and a SASE. You can also license your dog on-line by heading to the town's home page, clicking on-line payments and selecting Town Clerk. Licenses will not be sent out until a current rabies certificate has been emailed to townclerk@georgetownma.gov. *There is a convenience fee for this service. .  ALL dogs 6 months and older are required by MA Law to be licensed.
