GeorgetownCARES: Our Mission, About Us, What We Do

Mission

The GeorgetownCARES Coalition Committee is a community health and safety initiative seeking to encourage Georgetown citizens of all ages to make safe, healthy and responsible decisions about substance-use. Our mission is to promote substance abuse prevention strategies, education and resources aimed at making Georgetown the healthiest community it can be.

About Us

The GeorgetownCARES Coalition Committee seeks to foster an environment of wellness and healthy lifestyles for all those who live, learn, work and play in the Town of Georgetown. As an advisory subcommittee to the Georgetown Board of Selectman, we would like to build relationships with community partners and other organizations who share similar goals.

With representatives from the Georgetown Board of Selectmen, the Georgetown Public Schools, the Georgetown Police Department, the Georgetown Fire Department, we welcome any  Georgetown residents or groups who would like to learn more about or join us in our efforts as general GeorgetownCARES Coalition members.

What We Do

GeorgetownCARES meets on a regular basis to create and hold our signature speaking series, annual events, and communicate information will be of help to our residents in learning more about substance abuse and addiction. We seek to share information about local substance abuse and addiction resources that may serve or support our residents, yet we do not endorse any organization listed on our website. Our efforts are based on the understanding that alcohol and drug abuse/dependence is a chronic illness.
