Georgetown - The town’s Public Safety Building now welcomes residents and visitors with a new sign on Central Street.
The sign, made by Signco Graphics of Martel Way in Georgetown, was donated to the town by Director of Sales David Battcock and designed by Art Director Mark Barnaby. The sign would have cost $3,900.
Sgt. Don Cudmore of the Georgetown Police negotiated with Battcock for the sign, saying he started at $0 and Battcock started at $3,900 but was able to come down to the Police Department’s price range of free.
The previous sign was made by a volunteer 20 years ago.
Highway Supervisor Peter Durkee provided many hours of free labor including tree and stump removal and actually dug the postholes himself by hand. He also provided the machine and labor for the cement and it was all at no additional cost.
