On September 29th 2011 an armed robbery was reported to the Georgetown Police Department that occurred at Georgetown Liquor Store 103 East Main Street. The suspect was described as a white male mid 30’s 5’10 weighing approximately 240lbs, armed with a knife. The suspect was last seen leaving the area in a white sedan possibly a Toyota or Nissan Automobile.
Lead Detective James Rodden of the Georgetown Police Department Detective Division investigated this robbery. Working with the Rowley, Ipswich, Peabody, and Westford Police Departments, who had similar robberies in their communities.
Detective Rodden was able to identify a suspect and through his investigation issued a warrant for the arrest of Michael J. Whitcomb 28 Kelleher Road, Beverly MA age 41, charging him with two counts of Armed Robbery, two counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Intimidation of a witness. Mr. Whitcomb is presently incarcerated at the Essex County Jail in Middleton MA on unrelated charges. He is scheduled for a Dangerous Hearing this Friday November 4th at Salem Superior Court, Salem MA.
