Swerving to avoid a doe with two fawns as they crossed Lake Shore Drive Monday night, Lindsay Merrill, 29, of Merrimac, lost control of her 2003 Acura and slammed into two mailboxes and a large rock, which was shoved ahead nearly a foot by the force of the impact.
Merrill’s passenger, a 13-year-old girl from Bradford, was transported by ambulance to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport with minor injuries, according to Georgetown police reports. A friend drove Merrill to join her young passenger at the hospital, according to the police.
Present at the accident scene were Sgt. Dave Armstrong and Master Patrolman Scott Hatch. The accident investigation is being conducted by Hatch.
Georgetown Police Chief James Mulligan warned drivers to be cautious, “This is the time of year when a lot of animals are out and crossing
the roads after dark.”
