On November 30th 2010 the Georgetown Police Department was recognized by the American Automobile Association (AAA) of Southern New England for thirty or more years with no pedestrian fatalities. This is a very important award which represents the results of our ongoing proactive motor vehicle enforcement programs. As a Police Department you hope that your efforts will show results however it is hard to quantify these results, this is proof that our efforts are paying off in safety to the public. The credit as always goes to the
men and women of the Georgetown Police Department who patrol our streets each day and night all year long. As the Chief of Police of the Georgetown Police Department I want to thank each one of them for all they do to improve the quality of life in Georgetown and to provide this type of protection to our citizens and our community. The plaque reads in part “In recognition of your success in pedestrian safety and your continuing efforts to educate and protect the citizens of your community AAA salutes your commitment to traffic safety.”
