The Affordable Housing Task Force will act as an advocate for the creation of housing that is affordable to moderate and low income individuals and families. The Task Force supports additions to the town’s affordable housing that are complementary to the quality of life in Georgetown and favors development that will minimize any adverse impact on the town’s resources.
The Task Force’s goals have two motivations. Additional affordable housing provides an opportunity to people who work or are raised in Georgetown to be able to afford to live in our community. The creation of more affordable housing will maintain income diversity in our town. Secondly, the Task Force is motivated to assist the town in complying with the state’s affordable housing minimum under Chapter 40B, as established by the Dept. of Housing & Community Development (DHCD), to enable the town to manage new development in a manner consistent with its own goals.
