Foiled TD Bank Heist Prompts Honors from Georgetown Police Chief

Georgetown — The police department this week recognized the private citizens whose quick response to suspicious people behind B&B auto in Georgetown on Jan. 7 helped bring about the swift apprehension of three alleged bank robbers.

At Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting, Georgetown Police Chief James Mulligan presented citizen commendations to B&B Auto owner Mark Boulanger, his employees Jessie Cote and Scott David, and Rowley Police Officer Sherri David for their immediate response.

When Officer Sherri David phoned her husband Scott at B&B to tell him about the robbery that had just taken place at TD Bank, Scott David said there had just been two suspicious people at the rear of B&B Auto that the employees confronted. They had written down the car’s license plate number and type of car.

Officer David had her husband phone this information in to police immediately, resulting in the apprehension of these suspects within less than an hour.

“Without your keen observations, this case would have taken months, perhaps years, to solve,” wrote Mulligan on Cote’s citation.

All the stolen money was safely retrieved, and Korin O’Doherty of Belmont, John Chiellini of Everett, and Emanuel Silveira of Revere are each being charged with armed robbery.

Five members of the Georgetown Police Department received Unit Citations for their role in swiftly apprehending the suspects. Sgt. Kevin DeFeo, Detective Supervisor Tom DeJoy, Detective Jim Rodden, Master Patrol Officer Mike Goddu and dispatcher Lucille Manning were each honored by Mulligan on Monday night.

Officers responding to TD Bank on Jan. 7 used the BAPERN (Boston Area Police Emergency Radio Network) to call the Massachusetts State Police and other area departments with the vehicle information and suspect descriptions. They also secured the crime scene and collected evidence.

State police apprehended the suspects in a CVS Parking Lot in Saugus about half an hour later. Mulligan offered his heartfelt thanks to his police personnel at the Monday meeting.

“I’ve never been prouder to be chief of police and work with people of this caliber,” said Mulligan.
