On November 17th 2009, the Georgetown Police Department recieved an Award of Excellence from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, seen sitting are Lt. David Thomson, Chief James E. Mulligan holding the award, and Sergeant Kevin DeFeo. The group standing are members of the reward commitee. This was awarded to the Georgetown Police Department for their traffic safety efforts in 2008, to reduce motor vehicle enforcement, public information and education campaigns. This is the second year in a row the Georgetown Police Department has been awarded this honor.
