Georgetown —The Georgetown Police Department’s annual report gives residents a chance to see exactly what’s been happening in town over the past year and what challenges the department is facing. Here is a break down of the numbers of incidents and arrests in Georgetown in 2009.
In 2009, the Georgetown Police Department handled:
· 148 activated burglar alarms
· 150 fire calls
· 101 disturbance calls
· 300 animal complaints
· 34 domestic disturbance calls
· 10 assault and battery complaints
· 69 reports of larceny
· 101 calls from residents reporting solicitors at their homes
· 423 medical emergencies
· 56 calls for license to carry/FID permits
· 2,672 building checks
· 2,380 motor vehicle stops
· 151 motor vehicle accidents
· 2,359 traffic citations
· 1,040 written warnings
· 759 verbal warnings
There were a total of 279 arrests in Georgetown in 2009, including:
· 50 arrests for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence
· 38 arrests for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
· 29 arrests for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
· 20 arrests for uninsured operators of a motor vehicle
· 15 arrests for burglary/breaking and entering
· 10 arrests for domestic disturbances
· 69 arrests for larceny
· 40 arrests for underage drinking
