Two arrested for kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon

Georgetown —  Two men from Lawrence and Methuen were arrested following an incident that occurred on North Street late on Sunday, Aug. 8. Brinder A. Llanos, 20, of Lawrence, and Larry W. Richardson Jr., 20, of Methuen, were both arrested at 11:45 that night on charges of assault to rob, armed with a firearm; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and kidnapping, armed with a firearm.

According to Lt. David Thompson, the victim knew the two suspects.

“It wasn’t anything random,” Thompson said. “A Georgetown kid [in his early 20s] supposedly owed these kids money.”

Thompson explained that Llanos and Richardson reportedly saw the victim walking along North Street and an argument ensued.

“They grabbed this kid and made him ride with them,” Thompson said, explaining that the victim said the two suspects beat him and brandished a gun.

According to Thompson, the victim then went to the Georgetown Police Department to report the incident. He described the vehicle and knew the license plate number, so Georgetown Police alerted the Lawrence Police Department. Llanos and Richardson were picked up in Lawrence shortly after that and arrested.

The police had a search warrant for the car, but they did not find a weapon in the vehicle at the time the pair was arrested, according to Thompson.

An ambulance was called to check out the victim at the time, but he didn’t have any serious injuries and refused to be transported to a hospital, Thompson explained.

“There were definitely some marks [on him],” Thompson said.

Llanos and Richardson were arraigned at Haverhill District Court the following day, and a probable cause hearing is scheduled to be held on Sept. 1.
