Current Planning Board projects:
43D Expedited Permitting Program - In January, the Board of Selectmen adopted the 43D Expedited Permitting Program for two 50 acre Priority Development Sites along Route 133 and I-95.
Development Review Guidebook - In January, the Planning office started work on the 43D Expedited Permitting Program to develop a comprehensive development review guidebook for all local land use permitting in Georgetown. A copy of the final report is available in the Planning office.
Georgetown Center 40R Smart Growth Zoning District - As described in the Master Plan, the Planning Board is evaluating the possibility of a 40R Smart Growth Zoning District that would encourage mixed use and a more pedestrian-friendly layout in the village center. Key issues of study are wastewater treatment options, affordable housing, parking and historic preservation. The Board is working closely with the Economic Development Committee on this effort.
Official Town Map - The Planning Board is working to update the Official Town Map. Private ways and new public streets will be added to the 1984 map. The map is used to regulate new development and all development projects are required to be located along a street shown on the map.
Other Business:
Updated Subdivision Rules and Regulations - In March, 2010, the Planning Board completed an update of the Subdivision Rules and Regulations. New exhibits, forms and review criteria were added to clarify the requirements and improve administration and enforcement.
Street Acceptances - The Planning Board is working to close out prior subdivision projects and secure deeds or easements needed to formally accept the streets as public ways. Current projects include Chaplin Hills, Belleau Woods, Northwood Estates, Whispering Pines and Railroad Avenue.
Downtown Market Analysis - The Town has recently applied for a grant for a targeted market analysis of the Village Center commercial district. A copy of the final report is available in the Planning office. The Economic Development Committee is also working with the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission to update the database of business within the Merrimack Valley Means Business website.
The Planning Board meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month
at 7 p.m. in the third floor meeting room at Town Hall.
