GTFD Responds to Woodland Road for Motor Vehicle Crash
Fire and EMS personnel were awaken in the early morning hours of Friday April 24th for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a utility pole on Woodland Rd.  As crews were responding units were advised the driver was at another location.  Chief Al Beardsley (Car 1) advised dispatch to have the Rescue Company respond to the victim along with the Byfield FD ambulance while Engine 5 was directed to the crash location.  Deputy Chief Russ Moyer (Car 3) commanded the medical aid scene and Deputy Rusty Ricker (Car 2) commanded the crash location.  Deputy Ricker found a late-model Ford pick-up truck had crashed and snapped the utility pole into three sections.  Crews from Engine 5 used the Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) to scan a nearby wooded area to check for any possible victims.  Fortunately the driver was the only person in the vehicle.  Crews remained at the crash scene for 45 minutes while the vehicle was removed.
