Transportation: Shopping
The Georgetown Council on Aging Van is available door-to-door for weekly shopping and errands. Trips to area grocery stores and shopping areas are scheduled Tuesdays. Reservations should be made at least two days in advance by calling the COA office. Please check the Van Schedule for each month’s days and destinations. A small donation is requested to help with program expenses.
Medical Transportation: Northern Essex Elder Transport
Through Northern Essex Elder Transportation, Georgetown Council on Aging provides rides for elders to medical appointments. Northern Essex Elder Transportation is staffed by volunteer drivers. Arrangements should be made at least two days in advance of the appointment by calling the Council on Aging. If the office is closed, please leave a message. The office is open Mondays-Thursdays 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The ride will be arranged and the driver will call those with appointments to finalize details. Although a donation of 43 cents per mile is suggested to help support the program, no one would ever be turned away. Please remember: Reservations must be made through the Council office and clients should not call the drivers directly. For more information, please call the COA at (978)

Personal Needs Transportation: Ring & Ride
Ring and Ride (MVRTA) provides free curb-to-curb service to Georgetown residents for any purpose including medical appointments and shopping within Georgetown and to any destination in Amesbury, Boxford, Georgetown, Haverhill, Groveland, Newburyport, Lawrence, Methuen, Newbury, North Andover, West Newbury, Rowley Train Station & Market Basket in Rowley. All vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts. Required 24 hours prior to service, reservations can be made by calling the MVRTA at (978) 469-6878 and selecting option 3 weekdays 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Brochures are
